Once on Castle Hill overlooking Budapest and the Danube below,  the treasures simply unfold. First the remains of the labyrinths, then the Sándor Palace, the Royal Palace and the Hungarian National Gallery within. A short walk along the streets delivered Henry and me to Lord’s Street, rebuilt after World War II, in the original style. The architecture of these buildings ranges from medieval to baroque. Both the color and  the details of these buildings are a pleasure to view on a street running the full length of Castle Hill. Delightfully, several outdoor restaurants serve lunch in the forecourt of these elegant houses. We found an appealing place with good food, nice people, and sentimental musicians playing waltzes and Hungarian dances on violin and guitar. A nice respite before touring more of the city.
